What actually goes wrong with Maileroo

The free plan is the most complete in this comparison, and the reasons to leave are about what sits behind it.

It's small and young. Few public deliverability references, no enterprise procurement story, and a short history. For mail your business depends on, that's a genuine consideration against Postmark's decade or Mailgun's fifteen years.

Marketing is a separate product. Campaigns live in a separate offering rather than on the same plan as the API. So a product with both a newsletter and transactional email is managing two things again.

Paid tiers aren't a simple published table. The API plans run from free to custom without a clean ladder of figures, which makes budgeting a growth year harder than it should be.

A free dedicated IP is unusual for a reason. It's genuinely generous. It also means a dedicated IP with no volume behind it, which is worse for deliverability than a warm shared pool until you're sending consistently. Use the automatic warm-up and watch your numbers.

Is Maileroo's free plan really that good?

By feature coverage, yes — 3,000 emails, 1,000 inbound, two domains, a dedicated IP with automatic warm-up, verification API and webhooks, at no cost. Nothing else in this comparison bundles that much into a free tier.

The caveat is that a dedicated IP needs consistent volume to be worth having. On low volume, a warm shared pool usually delivers better.

Should I use the free dedicated IP?

Only if you're going to send consistently. A cold dedicated IP with sporadic volume performs worse than a shared pool that's already trusted, which is why most providers gate dedicated IPs behind a volume threshold.

Their automatic warm-up helps. Watch your own placement rather than assuming the IP is an upgrade.
