Free Constant Contact alternatives
Constant Contact runs a trial, not a free tier. For a small business, a church, a club or a non-profit watching every line, that's often the whole reason for this search.
Permanent free plans below, ranked by what you can actually ship on — with an honest note about the two things Constant Contact does that none of them replace.
The limit that bites first
Constant Contact's row is here for reference. Everything above it renews every month for as long as you stay inside it.
| Provider | Free tier | What stops you first | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sender | 2,500 subscribers and 15,000 emails a month, with automation included | Volume, eventually. Automation, landing pages and forms are all included | Permanent |
| Kit (formerly ConvertKit) | Up to 10,000 subscribers with one basic visual automation | One basic visual automation — sequences are the paid product | Permanent |
| Email Bump | 5,000 contacts and 5,000 emails a month | A 'Powered by Email Bump' badge on marketing footers. No daily cap; domains and seats unlimited | Permanent |
| EmailOctopus | 2,500 subscribers and 10,000 emails a month, with EmailOctopus branding | EmailOctopus branding on every send, 30-day reports, 1 user, 1 form | Permanent |
| Brevo | 300 emails a day, forever, with contact storage into the tens of thousands | 300 a day is a hard daily wall that doesn't roll over | Permanent |
| Zoho Campaigns | 2,000 contacts, 6,000 emails a month and 5 users | Volume — but 5 users, where most free plans allow one | Permanent |
| EngageBay | 250 contacts, free for teams of up to 15 members | 250 contacts and 2 email sequences — but 15 team members | Permanent |
| MailerLite | 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month, 2 seats, 3 automations | 250 subscribers and 3 active automations | Permanent |
| Mailchimp | 250 contacts and 500 sends a month, capped at 250 a day, 1 seat | 250 a day, which bites before the 500-a-month limit does | Permanent |
| Benchmark Email | 500 contacts and 2,500 sends a month, 1 user, 1 domain | 500 contacts, 1 user and 1 sending domain | Permanent |
| CleverReach | 250 recipients and 1,000 emails a month, permanently | 250 recipients and 1,000 emails a month | Permanent |
| Constant Contact | None — a free trial | There isn't one — a trial, then a card | None |
| AWeber | None — a 14-day trial with no subscriber limit | There isn't one — a 14-day trial | None |
| GetResponse | None — a 14-day trial with feature limits | There isn't one — a 14-day trial with feature limits | None |
| listmonk, Mautic, Keila, Sendy | Free or one-time licence | The software costs nothing; your sending provider and your time still do | Self-hosted |
From each vendor's own pricing page. Free tiers change more often than paid ones — check before you commit a launch to one.
Two things no free plan replaces
Event registration. Constant Contact handles events and ticketing inside the email tool, and almost nothing else in this category does. If you run events, moving means adding Eventbrite or similar alongside a cheaper email tool — price both before deciding, because the combined cost is sometimes higher.
A phone number. Being able to call a person and be talked through it is worth more to a lot of small businesses than any feature comparison, and it is the main reason people stay. None of the free plans below offer it, and neither do we.
If neither of those applies to you, then you're paying for a trial-only product where a dozen alternatives run permanent free tiers, and the arithmetic is straightforward.
How to read these, coming from a trial
Permanent versus trial. Everything above Constant Contact's row renews every month indefinitely. That's the whole point of this search, so check the Type column before anything else.
Seats, for a team without a marketer. EngageBay's free plan allows fifteen people, Zoho Campaigns five, MailerLite two. If several volunteers or staff need access, that's often more important than the contact allowance.
Support you can actually reach. None of the free plans below offer phone support, and Constant Contact's is a genuine reason people stay. Weigh that honestly rather than only comparing contact limits.
