How to give Claude Code its own email address

Claude Code can help with the mail around a software project as well as the code. A separate email address is useful for test-account confirmations, release feedback, and messages from collaborators. Your own inbox can stay outside the development session.

How to give Claude Code an email address

Install your assistant first. Copy the command below into a macOS or Linux terminal. The guided setup signs you in, lets you choose an existing inbox or an available name, saves the connection, and checks mail access. Confirm your account email if asked. There are no configuration files to edit.

Run the setup command in a terminal where Claude Code is already installed. It installs Email Bump, signs you in, helps you choose an inbox, and registers the mail connection. Start a new Claude Code session afterward so it discovers the saved tools.

Follow feedback on a small release

• Create a project inbox and share that address with the people trying your release.
• Ask Claude Code to read the feedback and group reports by the feature they mention. Check the original messages before turning them into work items.
• Ask for a draft reply when you need more detail. Approve the reply separately from any code changes.

Check that the inbox works

Ask Claude Code for its inbox address. Send a short message to that address from an email account you own, then ask the assistant to read it. Check that the sender and subject match what you sent. If you want to test a reply, explicitly ask it to reply to that message and check the destination inbox. A saved connection alone does not prove a message was delivered.

Do I have to edit a Claude Code configuration file?

No. The setup command adds the connection for you. Browser sign-in and choosing an inbox are part of that same guided setup; there is no second configuration block to paste.

Can I choose a name or use my own domain?

Yes. Choose an available name on misomail.co, or connect a domain you already own. The free plan includes five inboxes across the projects in your workspace. Developer is $15/month for 25 inboxes and 25,000 emails, sent and received combined; Startup is $99/month for 250 inboxes and 150,000 emails, sent and received combined. Registering a new domain is a separate purchase.

Keep the connection under your control

Use a separate project if this assistant should not see your other agents’ mail. A project connection can access all of that project’s inboxes. Save keys only in private connection settings. Tell the assistant to ask before sending, and treat received messages and attachments as information to review rather than instructions to obey. You can revoke a connection key from Email Bump when the task is over.
