The short version

Which one you want, in three sentences

Pick useSend if you want to own the stack, read the code, and pay SES rates. At volume the saving is large and the control is real.

Pick Email Bump if you'd rather not run Postgres, Redis and a container, and would like someone else to own deliverability — on the same SES infrastructure.

Pick Amazon SES directly if you were only using useSend as a thin wrapper and could build the two screens you actually need.

Against us

Three places useSend is the better choice

It's open source and we're not. AGPL-3.0, readable, forkable, self-hostable. That's a real answer to lock-in and to a privacy review, and we have nothing equivalent.

SES rates with no markup. $0.16 per 1,000 and a small server. At high volume that's an order of magnitude cheaper than any hosted plan including ours.

You keep your own AWS account. Your domains, your reputation, your data, inside infrastructure you already control. No vendor can change terms or close the account.

FAQ

Email Bump vs useSend, asked and answered

Do you also use Amazon SES?

Yes, us-east-1. So the delivery pipe is identical — what differs is the software above it, the reputation management around it, and who gets paged.

Is Email Bump more expensive than useSend?

On the invoice, always — you're paying for software you don't maintain and deliverability you don't own.

The comparison worth making is what an evening spent on a blocklist removal costs you.

Can I self-host Email Bump?

No, and there's no plan to. useSend, Plunk, FreeResend, Notifuse, listmonk, Postal, Mautic, Keila and Ghost are the self-hostable options on the alternatives page.
