Email Bump vs Plunk

Plunk and Email Bump cover the same ground — campaigns, automation and transactional in one place. Plunk is AGPL and pay-as-you-go; we're proprietary and contact-priced.

The short version

Which one you want, in three sentences

Pick Plunk if open source matters, or if your sending is low and irregular enough that $0.001 an email with no monthly floor beats any subscription.

Pick Email Bump if you email a list often — a fixed contact price beats per-email billing quickly — and would rather not own deliverability.

Pick neither if you only send newsletters at volume, which is listmonk self-hosted, or only transactional, which is Resend or Postmark.

Against us

Three places Plunk is the better choice

It's open source and we're not. AGPL-3.0, readable and self-hostable. If lock-in or code review is the concern, that's an answer we can't give.

No monthly floor. $0.001 an email means a quiet month costs almost nothing. Our cheapest paid plan is $19 whether you send or not.

Automation you can modify. The trigger-and-condition builder is in a codebase you can fork. If your automation needs something specific, you can write it rather than requesting it.

FAQ

Email Bump vs Plunk, asked and answered

Is Email Bump cheaper than Plunk?

Divide your monthly sends by 1,000 and multiply by $1 — that's Plunk Cloud. Above about 19,000 emails a month our $19 plan is cheaper, and the gap widens fast.

Self-hosted Plunk is cheaper than both, at the cost of running it.

Can I self-host Email Bump?

No, and there's no plan to. Plunk, useSend, Notifuse, listmonk, Postal, FreeResend, Mautic, Keila and Ghost are the self-hostable options on the alternatives page.

Who handles deliverability?

We do — Amazon SES underneath with reputation monitoring, bounce and complaint handling on top. Self-hosted Plunk makes that yours; Plunk Cloud makes it theirs.
