Head to head

Email Bump vs Bird

Bird is email infrastructure inside a large messaging suite. We're email priced on contacts with campaigns included. Bird operates at a scale we don't, which matters for some buyers more than any feature.

The short version

Which one you want, in three sentences

Pick Bird if you're sending millions of emails a month, need subaccounts and dedicated IPs, or want SMS, WhatsApp and voice on the same contract.

Pick Email Bump if you also send campaigns and would rather not run a second platform, or if a permanent free tier matters for evaluation.

Pick neither if you want the best developer experience, which is Resend, or the strongest deliverability record, which is Postmark.

Against us

Two places Bird is the better choice

Scale and subaccounts. Fifteen subaccounts and a dedicated IP at $75/mo, with negotiated rates above five million emails a month. For an agency or a multi-brand sender at volume, that structure is exactly right and we don't have it.

SMS, WhatsApp and voice. All on the same platform and the same contract. We send email and receive email. A genuinely multichannel programme is not something we replace.

FAQ

Email Bump vs Bird, asked and answered

Is Email Bump cheaper than Bird?

For a product that also sends marketing, yes — Bird's marketing side is separate and here campaigns share the contact-priced plan.

For pure high-volume transactional with subaccounts, Bird's $75 Premier tier is good value and we don't compete on that shape.

How hard is migrating from SparkPost?

The send call is a rename and a base URL — our fields are the common from/to/subject/html/text shape.

Then the usual work: re-verify sending domains with new DKIM records, import your suppression list, repoint webhooks, and warm up if you were on a dedicated IP.

Do you have subaccounts?

There are workspaces and projects, so client data and API keys stay separated, but there's no reseller billing model. Bird's 15 subaccounts on Premier and Elastic Email's reseller features are both built for that.
