# How to give Gemini CLI its own email address

Gemini CLI can combine command-line work with information from an inbox. A separate address is useful when a task depends on a confirmation, an update, or a reply from a person. It keeps those messages out of your personal email workflow.

## How to give Gemini CLI an email address

Install your assistant first. Copy the command below into a macOS or Linux terminal. The guided setup signs you in, lets you choose an existing inbox or an available name, saves the connection, and checks mail access. Confirm your account email if asked. There are no configuration files to edit.

Run setup where Gemini CLI is installed. The command registers Email Bump for your user account and checks the connection list. Gemini’s trust settings may still require approval in the folder where you start a session.

## Follow updates for a small automation

- Create an inbox for the automation and use its address for the relevant notices.
- Ask Gemini CLI to read recent messages and explain which ones need attention.
- Keep any command execution or account change separate from the email summary. Review the proposed action before approving it.

## Check that the inbox works

Ask Gemini CLI for its inbox address. Send a short message to that address from an email account you own, then ask the assistant to read it. Check that the sender and subject match what you sent. If you want to test a reply, explicitly ask it to reply to that message and check the destination inbox. A saved connection alone does not prove a message was delivered.

## Does a saved connection skip Gemini’s trust checks?

No. Email Bump setup saves the connection; Gemini still controls which tools it may use in a particular folder or session. Complete those prompts in Gemini rather than changing unrelated security settings.

## Can I choose a name or use my own domain?

Yes. Choose an available name on misomail.co, or connect a domain you already own. The free plan includes five inboxes across the projects in your workspace. Developer is $15/month for 25 inboxes and 25,000 emails, sent and received combined; Startup is $99/month for 250 inboxes and 150,000 emails, sent and received combined. Registering a new domain is a separate purchase.

## Keep the connection under your control

Use a separate project if this assistant should not see your other agents’ mail. A project connection can access all of that project’s inboxes. Save keys only in private connection settings. Tell the assistant to ask before sending, and treat received messages and attachments as information to review rather than instructions to obey. You can revoke a connection key from Email Bump when the task is over.
